BTGAndy Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 (edited) For sale here is my beloved Conklin GTBD-7 7 string bass. I have to sell it as I have now bought an Overwater Progress 7 string, something I have lusted after since I started playing and I need the cash to pay off my girlfriend who very kindly lent me the money! It comes with a moulded foam case (more protection than a soft case but with none of the weight of a hard case. I have upgraded the EQ in this bass with an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp and a Neutrik locking jack, it sounds ten times better than the stock electronics. It is also fitted with gold strap locks and Overwater medium gauge strings (.22-.134) and has a scale length of 34" As you will be able to see in the photo it has sustained one ding on the back right shoulder of the bass, this is just a crack in the lacquer and isn't noticeable when you're wearing the bass. I will deliver within a reasonable distance of the North East of England or courier at the buyers expense, I'd rather people got the chance to try the bass out first though. I'm looking for £850 O.N.O. Please don't hesitate to PM me with any questions. Front End on Bridge Back Back closeup Headstock Ding Case Edited January 6, 2011 by BTGAndy
Schnozzalee Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Nice finish, never really like the purpleheart one. I really like that, I think they're meanna be really light too!
BTGAndy Posted April 19, 2010 Author Posted April 19, 2010 Well, light for a seven string, the neck is tiny compared to my Overwater, really nice tight string spacing.
Dood Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 ooooh Luverleee! I had the purpleheart version with the translucent red finish!
Golchen Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Amazing looking beast there! In an ideal world of money and available space I'd get it just for a go, but sadly I don't have the money or the space. I'd edit a few of the bumps out, you only need one showing!
pantherairsoft Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 I still have huge GAS for this bass… have a bump!
velvetkevorkian Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 These are indeed brilliant basses- wish I could afford a second to defret. Yours has a nicer top than the one I have too!
andybassdoyle Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Seriously considering this bass and prima facie top guy as well mega bump
Chris2112 Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Awesome bass! Always liked the look of these, and they sound great too!
basstons Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 bonjour, beautiful bass shipping to germany ? merci
BTGAndy Posted June 22, 2010 Author Posted June 22, 2010 I shall do some research and get back to you with a price, probably Thursday mate.
pantherairsoft Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Still love, want and need this bass!!! Bump for a stunning instrument!
Steel_mason Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Bloody tempting! ive been reading up on these for a year or so. ive never heard one live though :/. although i have heard the fretboard quality is pretty low?
BTGAndy Posted July 14, 2010 Author Posted July 14, 2010 The fretboard is as good as anything else I've owned, great sounding bass especially with the upgraded electronics. The string spacing is very tight too, so it's less of the leap that some ERBs can be.
karlfer Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Hi Andy. I had a kinda Purpleheart one of these maybe 10 year ago. I also struggled to sell mine when the time came. I ended up part ex-ing it against a big Marshall rig, which I sold when I packed up for 5 years. Staggeringly good bass, but I think it's a relatively specialist market. Hang on in there and good luck. PS potential punters, top guy to deal with, gear really well looked after PPS. Someone buy his SWR 750x, I am weakening!!!!!! I don't NEED 750 watts.
BTGAndy Posted July 22, 2010 Author Posted July 22, 2010 Thank you very much for the shining endorsement. =)
Waldo Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Hmm, this could be just the sort of crazy-ass bass that I need to rediscover my muse. I'll be keeping an eye on this...
carlc64 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 looks nice, do you get to London? I'm not sure if a trip to Sunderland is feasible for me. I'm moving to London (arrive next Thursday) to do a PhD at Imperial, and will need a bass (I'm lugging 3 guitars from the states but my basses seemed too much to haul over). I guess this is "Made in Korea"? Is it tuned in 4ths usually or like a 7-string guitar an octave down?
BTGAndy Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 I might be down in late October, the bass is tuned beadgcf (fourths) and yes it is made in Korea. Lovely bass though and it sounds ten times better with the Aguilar preamp.
cocco Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Jesus that's insane! 7 strings??? Sounds like a learning opportunity.
pantherairsoft Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Still look at this everytime you bump it! How is this still here!! Amazing bass....
AttitudeCastle Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 I'd have this off you in a flash if i had any money and my amp hadn't just packed it in! Once this is gone (as it will soon or people are maaad!!!) I'd love to get one in that sexy Wine Red! Where does one get a Conklin GTBD-7 or GT-7 in the UK anyway? Anyone?
BTGAndy Posted September 27, 2010 Author Posted September 27, 2010 Second hand I believe, I don't think they're in production anymore!
