Anyone else here going to see Jimmy Johnson on Monday 26th November? He's playing with Allan Holdsworth at the Jazz Cafe - I've been waiting years to see that line-up...

I was hopping to go see them at the robin in bilston on the 5th dec but i'll be in sharm el sheikh enjoying some winter sun at the time

Ive seen Holdsworth & co before ronnies scotts in Bham became a lap dancing club...

As i recall Skuli Sverrisson was holding down the low end at the time it was a stella gig But id love to see Jimmy as i think hes a top player

Go to www.waynejohnsononline.com and look for audio tracks of Arrowhead, Grasshopper and Villagers. Great early examples but the cds are worth it if you like the tasters. I have all of them on cd or vinyl.

Actually, dunno if I'll go now... I loved some of his early stuff, but his later stuff, man that takes some getting into, those really long chordy parts, I'm just like, cmon man start the bloody guitar solos!! Was a time when I loved him, but it's like over time my brain has built up some kind of resistance to that kind of far out music..

I know what you mean - I don't know how I'll cope with a whole night of it, but I get to see Holdsworth, Jimmy Johnson and Chad Wackerman - three of my favourite musicians for years, none of who I've ever seen live - in one go so it'll be worth it.

Jimmy Johnson's work on the new Planet X album, Quantum, is amazing. I've been learning/trying to learn Matrix Gate the last couple of evenings.

Depends which website you read A lot of the adverts say Gary but according to his Myspace page he's in Germany with Al Jarreau at the time, and Chad's website has got the Holdsworth dates.

After about 20 mins my head was fried!
