Bilbo Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 I am looking to insure a bass I am selling here when I send it. Seemed logical to me. Quote
Delberthot Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I have sent a lot of stuff recently using Parcelmonkey - they mainly use City Link but they offer their own independant insurance at the cost of £1 per £100 insured - not sure if they offer it unless you take their courier service or not though. Everything has been delivered very quickly and with no problems so far and I've posted a lot of stuff using them. Quote
Ou7shined Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 (edited) I've always gone with Interparcel up to now who offer good insurance... but I've been getting increasingly hacked off with them (and UPS) for poor delivery times then not giving a flying feck about customer care like they used to. I'd go with Parcelmonkey if I were you. Edited April 23, 2010 by Ou7shined Quote

Ou7shined Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Oh yeah it was UPS (edited original post) It must have been the fever that made me put DHL I hope it all goes well for you Matt but I've had it with interparcel - there's only so many times you can give them the benefit of the doubt. Quote

Once that happens, it's anyone's guess as to when it might get picked up or delivered. I think it's to do with the relative sparseness of their delivery depots (and the scattered population) in those areas. Quote
Ou7shined Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Good point. I think a lot of the problem is to do with drivers and the ones the have in Dundee just now (our nearest depot ) are a bunch of lazy twots. Of course it doesn't help when customer care fob you off with shyte and you know they know you know it's shyte. Quote
BottomEndian Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010
in Dundee just now (our nearest depot )
There's the problem right there. What's that, an hour's drive each way? Combine that with lazy twot drivers and you're destined for poopy service. We're very, very lucky here to have excellent drivers with the vast majority of the parcel services. (Wouldn't touch ANC on Tyneside with a bargepole though. ) Anyway, back on-topic... if you're not sending to or collecting from anywhere remote, Bilbo, Interparcel's great for delivery prices and for getting insurance easily whacked on at a fairly reasonable rate. neepheid Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I have this sneaky suspicion that couriers in general treat pickups from/deliveries to commercial addresses a bit more seriously than residential ones. Quote
Bilbo Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 Sorted. Parcel monkey seems to provide all I need at a great price. For info - they did it for £12, including insurance to £400 for only an extra £4 (£1 per hundred insured). Quote
