Stunning Surine Protocol 6-string (one of only two made)

This unique (well, almost!) bass is one of two that Surine luthier Kenneth Lofquist built under his own name/logo. Ken Lofquist is THE luthier / builder for all of the Scott Surine high-end bass range. The two basses are identifiable bacause of the Lofquist (rather then the "SS/Surine") logo on the headstock... other than that, the bass is essentially the same as a very special Surine-6 !! .

Sounds huge and powerful, with sparkling highs, deep bass and a growling midrange. The neck is particularly nice because of its very shallow (flat) profile, making it much easier-playing than some 6'ers. The long top horn gives the bass a really nice balance and the deep cutaways give easy access all the way to the 24th fret.

The combined Bartolini pickups + EQ provide optimum tone. A new bone nut was recently installed and a pro set-up completed. This is the ultimate in USA handmade, exotic basses.. on a par with the likes of Ken Smith etc.

Specs : 35" scale; burled Brazilian Rosewood top w/ matching headstock cap; Honduras Mahogany core; Indian Roswood rear cap; 3-piece maple neck-through-body construction; Purpleheart accents; Ebony fingerboard; 24 frets; Bartolini soapbar pickups (with Barto active tone system including three band boost/ cut); 9-volt Bartolini NTCTH 3-band preamp; Separate volume for each pickup; 19mm string spacing (adjustable 16mm - 19mm); Gotoh tuners; ABM bridge; finished in a low maintenance Satin nitrocellulose ; gold hardware; gig bag

This bass (as a Surine Protocol 6) retails for $6,795 (err, that's IN the USA, of course!)

Not sure - some aspects of the bass look very similar to mine, others don't (but that could be just the lighting in the photos).
I didn't get the bass from this guy, so not sure if maybe a fretted and fretless (matching) pair were originally made (?)....

decided to give this a try on ebay :-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=006

.. if any BC'er can offer £975 prior to 07:09 GMT on 2nd Dec (a Sunday), then I'll be delighted to remove it from ebay 12 hours before the auction end (.. as they've now prevented sellers from stating that items are for sale elsewhere).

That's £975 inclusive of 24h. delivery (but not PayPal).
