Valuing my bass

Good morning all,

I've got a 3/4 Romanian Double Bass that I got new in '93ish. It's got a solid front, and is in pretty good nick. We bought it from Thwaits in Watford, and have still got the receipt.
As the description says I'm getting married and really need the money, also I live in a shoe box and haven't played properly in over ten years.
Are there any web sites / places that I could go to for a valuation?

Go to Thwaites? You're following a fine tradition, eg my brother sold his EBO in '66 to buy an engagement ring. Enjoy your marriage and then later think about another DB.

Luckily the father in law to be plays bass guitar so I can keep my hand in.
My fiancé must be very understanding, what with my motorbikes and the bass!

In my experience, the thump of a single is soon diminished by the pitter-patter of tiny feet. (YMMV)

Thanks Dougal, well I have got two thumpers, one screamer, and a delicious twin (AJS, Matchless, James, and a Suzuki).

I've heard back from Thwaites and am pleasantly suprised; it's worth about £1200. Not bad.

What do youse all think?
