rohan Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 http://www.myspace.com/thrice Listen to Firebreather Any ideas on the kind of distortion on the bass at 1:32? Quote
vegas_hooker Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Ive seen a few pic of his board from the recordings and it looks like he was using a line6 distorton/OD modeller (the gold one...the name escapes me now) Though that bass does sound like a blended tone as the low end is pretty tight. DrGonzo Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 yeah sounds like a saturated valve head (cleanish) mixed wth some pure filth Quote
G-bitch Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Best hardcore bass distortion ever is that Converge tune off Petitioning the Empty Skies - can't remember the name but I think it's track 4. It was basically stingray through a cranked ampeg V4b to get the power valve saturation and then it was double tracked (!); it's a thing of beauty. I can get that sound by cranking my V4 but it's just not feasible unless I were to use a power soak. Nearest equivalent that I've found is a Fulltone Bassdrive. Quote
cheddatom Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 If you want a double tracked sound, try a chorus or a short delay time. Quote
