A sort of crossbreed Jaydee / Alembic to my eyes but oh the need ..

My current fund has nothing more than an old bitten plectrum , belly button fluff and an old toffee wrapper but we can all dream a little ...

I've never understood why certain artists (Stanley Clarke being a good example) keep going through different bass endorsements (as in with different manufacturers). I imagine he has a Nigel Tufnell-sized collection of Alembics, then he gets a Spellbinder or two (which he then sells) and most recently I saw him advertising a bass with a German sounding name (something like Loewenhertz). Does he need the money? I don't know but I doubt he is poor as a Church mouse. He almost certainly doesn't need the (new) bass! To my mind it devalues an endorsement if the player is seen 'brand jumping'.
He used to play a Lieber Spellbinder in the previous days of "Return to Forever." These two were made specially for the reunion tour. He also used the Spellbinders (as well as the Alembics) on the SMV tour last year.
Fair enuff, I stand corrected OTPJ on Spellbinders. Although I was right about the Lowenherz http://www.loewenherzbass.com/english/englishindex.html

But my point still applies, eg, Flea switching horses (think Darryl Jones was in the process too, ever before Lakland got acquired), Eddie Van Halen with his Wolfgang-type guitars too
Yes, I love the look and sound of the Spellbinders, but have you seen the price of the standard model? $15400 USD makes an Alembic Series II seem a bit of a bargain!
MB1. :)
...I'll settle for the Series II Thanks! ....
