Just seen this on the Bass Direct site. My only quibble with my old Lee Sklar Sig was the lack of third Super Fatty, now this....

I drooled over that colour when I saw it too... Yum! Thankfully I'm about £4,500 short...

The only photo I've taken of my D roc yet.

Love this bass to bits,it almost plays itself,so much so I'm tempted to move my beloved Ricky on & buy an NG3

Excellent

Well done 🤣

I’ve just realised I’ve dumped myself out of the GAS Challenge 2020 😬

Since I've bought both my Dingwalls in the last month & am currently gassing for the Mopar purple NG3 at bass direct I wouldn't even consider entering the GAS challenge 😁

(Well unless it was a farting contest that is,my wife reckons I could win one of those 😁)

Pics please... or at the very least a detailed description. 😃

I created a topic in General Discussion as well, but I’ll paste it here to copy those who follow Dingwall:

I’ve put a deposit down on a Dingwall. I opted for a Wenge neck to go with the Wenge fingerboard rather than the maple neck. I think it would look better with a Wenge neck and I’m also led to believe it would have a more compressed/grindy sound compared to the Maple which I’m just fine with.

It appears that if I commit to the Wenge neck it will push delivery towards the end of 2020 and if I revert back to Maple (which I could have blacked out anyway) then it would bring delivery forward significantly. I have to admit that the Wenge neck was an afterthought, but once I had considered the option, I really fancied it. I’ve not had the opportunity to play a Dingwall with a Wenge neck so I’m now wondering what I should do. I’m not in any rush to get the bass, I’m just wondering other than the difference in look, would the wait be worth it?

In a word, yes.  It's all down to personal preference, but i find wenge aesthetically and tonally the best choice for a neck wood overall, and I believe off memory Sheldon actually recommends Wenge on custom builds, or historically has.  It will be great either way, but the Dingwall wenge necks are something special, and whats a few months when its a custom build?

Thanks Kev. That is generally what I thought regarding the custom build/wait time. For a bass that is going to cost what it does, the wait time shouldn't really come into it.

Your thoughts regarding wenge are much appreciated 👍

NG3 5 string in Mopar Purple. Sitting next to what has been my main bass for 18 years.

Both variations on purple. 5 strings, maple necks, alder bodies and active, but the similarities very much end there.

I've had the Dingwall since last Thursday and I'm gobsmacked by how good it sounds and feels.

Can't post a pic yet ( hopefully very soon ).

I'm expecting my D-roc Standard 5 string in blue/purple colour shift sometime in March. Ordered it for my 50th birthday last June.

Starting to get a bit excited.
