Chris Horton Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015
I picked up this Z3 from Mark @ bass Direct between Xmas and new Year and it's just too good (their original pics):
That looks stunning !!!! I love the grain and colour Quote

I love the grain and colour
Yeah, I'd hoped it was going to play like a dog after seeing it but it plays better than it looks... ended up spending more on that visit to BD than I'd planned! Just need to learn to play well enough to justify having something that good. Quote
gary mac Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Another Dingwall in the house Quote

gary mac Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015
Very nice Gary. the fingerboard is especially nice
Thanks Cameron, it is a very pleasing looking piece of wood.
Nice upgrade, that is wonderful Glad you approve Kev, I am extremely chuffed with it. I am tempted to gig it tonight but the venue is quite cramped and generally busy, so not sure. All these things to worry about
Quote
colgraff Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I bought this Prima Artist 5 from Mark at Bass Direct on Monday. It is unbelievably gorgeous to hold and play. The only problem is I am reluctant to take it to gigs in case it gets a ding on it! Quote
gary mac Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Lovely. What wood is that? Know what you mean about being fearful of getting it dinged at gigs. I haven't gigged my newest one yet for the same reason. Our gigs are mostly in pubs, although we do have a gig in May on a proper stage, so will probably give it an outing for that one. Quote
colgraff Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 It is mostly walnut but has maple, too, to balance between the high and low strings. I must have been mad to pay £5,000 for it; not because it isn't worth it but I'm not sure that I am good enough to do it justice! Quote
gary mac Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Wow, that is some investment.hope you enjoy it. Quote
colgraff Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Thanks guys. I took it out to play 'in anger' for the first time tonight and the sound was absolutely amazing. The only downside was that my Boss effect pedals all sound flabby and horrible now, so I need to upgrade them to higher quality ones. I need to do this WITHOUT going back into Bass Direct and buying the 6 string Prima Artist which is calling to me.... Quote

colgraff Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Thanks Dood, I swapped it for a Roscoe 6 string that Dan was after. He has had an after-market preamp put in which make it a bit more sonically versatile. As I split my time between children and partner it made sense for me to have a Dingwall in each house so that I have one wherever I gig. That's what I tell myself, anyway. Quote

colgraff Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 @Graham It might be, I don't know I'm afraid. I am not knowledgeable about such things. Quote
