Geek99
I read the sticky above but want opinions. I live in a newish house with rcd, I turned the lights off. My bass is a 62 ri jap jazz. It has conductive copper foil lining with barely mesureable resistance from the pickup cavities to the earth side of the jack. Ditto the tailpiece. The noise reduces when volume turned down, but its still noisy. How noisy can I expect a single coil jazz to still be ? What do you guys experience? johnnylager
Are the control cavitiy & scratchplate also shielded & do all the earths terminate at a common grounding point like the vol pot? Pic?
Geek99
Yes, all shielded with minimal resistance. Some earths go direct to output jack to avoid earth loops.
johnnylager
Dunno then, sorry. There shouldn't be too much noise with both pups full on, but it should increase as one is backed off. Probably. I'll just back out now. My old Geddy was fair noisy though. Sell it & get a P-bass. Edited May 6, 2010 by johnnylager
