gary mac
I've been test driving a few Ibanez bassess recently and last week tried out a secondhand edb600. I was impressed by the build quality and the weight. Sounded good plugged in, although a little dull when played acoustically but that was probably down to the strings being a bit tired. I'm interested on opinions about this particular mode and Ibanez in general. I have found sound reviews on line, but I'm keen to get BC'ers views. Thanks in advance. RussFM
I've never played an EDB, but Ibanez in general are great, consistent quality, lovely slim necks and good tone. I think the Soundgears are even lighter than the EDB if that's a selling point for you. I doubt I'll play anything else now, every time I got off stage with the Jazz my back ached, but I haven't had any problems since getting the SR. Balcro
If you like the sound and the price I can't see anything to put you off. I think the sound is very close to all the 300 and 500 SR's. The only obvious difference is that in most cases the EDB600 is made of luthite, not mahogany like the SR 300/360/430 and 500. The electronics mix in the above comparisons is the same Ibanex humbuckers plus a 2 or 3 band eq, so there's a sort of "family" sound. Might be interesting to do an "Ask" or "Google" on Luthite. When checking reviews, be aware that American Ibanez numbers do not always correspond with those in Europe. Check specs and appearance. Good luck. Balcro.
