Clarky
I recently acquired this lovely 51P reissue but, having A/B'ed it with my 70s RI 'Sid', have decided I want to stick with the latter as my 'cheap' P bass for the skankier gigs (which tend to be most of ours!) Lets start with the downsides to this bass: there are a couple of tiny almost unnoticeable dings (one on headstock, one on lower horn; we are talking really small and nothing through the lacquer); more importantly, the G tuner is slightly bent (this had obviously taken a whack prior to my ownership; its only noticeable if you look closely or when you turn it; anyone looking at the bass would not notice). The upsides: it has an upgraded p/u (Seymour Duncan Antiqity SCPB1, which sounds great, a really deep fundamental bass tone), but also comes with the original p/u; it has a choice of two bridges (2 saddle or Fender Deluxe Precision; I swapped back for the original for authenticity); the downsides mentioned above are really not noticeable and its generally in very good condition. It has lovely TI flats on it for that authentic retro thump. There are a couple more photos in this Gear Porn thread: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...hl=butterscotch I paid £350 for this (incl delivery), which was very cheap given the upgrades (especially the lovely p/u; new this package would cost over £700). I have since added Fender chrome covers at a cost of £27, hence I am going to ask £375 (with 2-day delivery). It will come in a soft gig bag, well packed in a cardboard box. Cat Burrito
What a bargain for someone! Sorry to hear you didn't gel with this one Clarky, that pup (as you know) is in mine too & I have the ashtrays - both tasteful upgrades that keep in spirit with the vibe of the bass. This is an awesome bass and a great price for someone. Have a best of luck with the sale bump

I use my 72P for decent gigs and 'Sid' (70s RI P bass) for skankier venues and it wasn't enough to muscle Sid out of the way! PS, your knobs are in the post (to any other BC'er, BB knows what this means and its not rude!)
Cat Burrito
Thanks. If only we'd have all got together & booked some inbetween-y gigs for your band, you could keep the bass!
