Clarky
I know there aren't too many Thunderbird owners on BC but does anyone know which specific tool is used to adjust the truss rod on a T'bird? The bullet-shaped truss rod ending looks like it should take an open spanner of some sorts but I don't want to strip it trying? Thanks in advance
neepheid
5/16", I believe. A tool like this would be ideal: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tools/Wrenches...d_Wrenches.html Edited May 9, 2010 by neepheid
Clarky
Thanks neepheid. Funnily enough when I googled truss rod and Thunderbird a few sites mentioned an allen key, yet I couldn't see that there is any 'purchase' inside the bullet for an allen key. The wrench you mentioned looks perfect - now why don't they come as stock with the bass?
neepheid
Epiphone most likely do and Tokai Thunderbirds most definitely use an allen key. That's maybe what the sites you mention were talking about.
Clarky
Thanks again - after a quick search I picked up a 5/16 (8mm) truss rod wrench on eBay for a fiver! Should sort me
