one thing- it's a maple fingerboard, but there's no skunk stripe round the back-

must be a separate fingerboard (to get the trussrod in), like on my Warmoth.

which years did they do that on?

I wonder if thats been used has a lefty sometime. that extra strap hole i mean. also the Dstring looks kind of weird as it goes over the retainer.

Y'know, I don't even LIKE Fenders but that is a very special bass.

At the risk of upsetting anyone, in a few years that Buy-It-Now price is going to look like a steal. That's a genuine investment-grade instrument.

Only problem is, you wouldn't be allowed to play it (by your insurance company) ...

I've got a Candy Apple Red on from 66 and they are going up in value every year.

I pay £200 for worldwide insurance and gig it regularly round the world. It's insured for £4,000, which ain't too bad I don't think.

This bass is exceptional, but I don't like te black inlays with that body. Maybe it's just me...
