daz Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Viewed the greatest rock movie ever again This is Spinal Tap last night (bought the tripple DVD 25th anniversarry edition from HMV £8!) Call me a fool but i never noticed before the song Big Bottom is performed with three basses. Well four really to be accurate as the groups regular Bass player Derek Smalls plays a double neck bass. Wot a fule I am, not noticing Davidl St Hubbins and Nigel Tufnel also wielding bass guitars. Quote
the_skezz Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 To be honest I wouldn't have noticed that if my dad hadn't pointed it out to me when I first watched the film. Brilliant song, need to learn it at some point. Quote
Cat Burrito Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 I must learn it too some day. I picked up on the 3 basses at the time as I first saw it when I first started playing Quote

fretmeister Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Guitar World did the TAB for it about 10 years ago. I might even have it in the attic somewhere Quote
Jerry_B Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 One of the first bass lines I learned, way back when. Quote

Dom in Dorset Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 5 strings, 6 pick ups, the man is a genious. I always play Big Bottom and Tonight I'm Gonna Rock you (Tonight) at sound checks. I'm mostly in the folk world ,it always gets a laugh from the sound man. Quote
allighatt0r Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I like this version: Quite like David Gilmour's bass solo. Quote
