A few delay's took place due to the temperature in the spray shop not being suitable for the poly laquer... this has now been sorted, and after a 2nd trip to the spray shop to get the finish exactly as we discussed, the bass is back with Bernie and having the final assembly done as we speak... Bass should be with me as soon as the temperature deems it suitable to be in the back of a couriers van, OR I can find a way to get down to Brighton (If anyone fancies a road trip, let me know!!!). I've been promised a pic later or tomorrow so watch this space
It must be a nightmare at the moment. His newly installed "jet engine" heater is helping out but even so, it can't be ideal! That workshop is f-f-f-f-f-f-freezin.... Quote
pantherairsoft Posted December 31, 2010 Author Posted December 31, 2010 Got as call from Bernie just now (I suggested he stopped working and went to enjoy NYE!) and he sent me a few pics over. He's been working hard on the bass... And it's basically done! Electrics need fitting and the final setup needs doing after a couple of parts are polished out. Behold... All I can say is... Oh my god it's gorgeous... Shep Quote
STU-SBL Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Looking good bud. What a great way to finish off 2010 and a new arrival for 2011! Stu Quote

Although, I try and give the other two basses attention, but it's hard. I imagine it's like having a favorite child, but not being allowed to let the other know....
I don't really have that issue as I ONLY own 6er's now! And until the GB arrives just 1 fretted and 1 fretless so both have thier place. Love your Evo though! I do miss my Overwater. I loved the tone and the looks. But the weight was sooooo impractical I couldn't play it standing up for more than 10mins before I was in pain. 12.7lbs Being my 1st custom build though it will always have a place in my heart
Nice one dude!
Cheers man. Can't wait to get my hands on this now! Very happy with how it looks. The 'Autum' burst is great. I told him Spalted would look great Quote
Dread Bass Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Nice one Shep it looks amazing. At some point when I am back in notts we need to have an erb bass bash. Quote

pantherairsoft Posted January 15, 2011 Author Posted January 15, 2011 Making the trip on the 22nd to collect the beauty. Woop Woop! Quote
EBS_freak Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Not long now - saw it at the weekend. It's looking pretty darn cool. If it plays as good as it looks, you are on to a winner. Quote
pantherairsoft Posted January 19, 2011 Author Posted January 19, 2011 Cool stuff. 3 days to go! Woop Woop. Quote
eude Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Exciting! Man, you'll have to give up your job, just to play all yer basses! Eude Quote

Man, you'll have to give up your job, just to play all yer basses! Eude
Ha. If I could afford to there'd be no question... I've had a huge clear out to be honest and the 3 basses listed in my sig, including the one I'm collecting are the only 3 I now own. 2 fretted and 1 fretless. 3's reasonable isn't it? I have 3 musical projects, so that's a bass per band. Isn't that how it's done? Quote
EBS_freak Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Come this time tomorrow, Shep will have a new toy... Quote
pantherairsoft Posted January 22, 2011 Author Posted January 22, 2011 On the way home. Had a great time hanging out and listening to the Master himsel play bass The Spitfire is AMAZING. Far more than I ever dreamt of. The extra touches Bernie's put in are stunning. Rest assured I'm a happy bunny. Pics soon Shep Quote

pantherairsoft Posted January 22, 2011 Author Posted January 22, 2011 Oh it has one of those as well... But I'll let him off Quote
pantherairsoft Posted January 22, 2011 Author Posted January 22, 2011 When I'm home... And not on the iPhone waiting for a Train for the last leg of my journey from B'ham to Notts... And I I'm not shattered when I get back. I might make you wait until daylight tomorrow Quote
Oakbear Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 About the tenth time i've checked this thread today! I didn't realise you were doing the trip on the train! That must be a grueler! If in future you have to cross half the length of the country to collect a beautiful custom 6 string drop me a line for a lift! Quote
pantherairsoft Posted January 22, 2011 Author Posted January 22, 2011 Not the full journey by train. A good mate wanted to go see Bernie to so I got the train to Wolverhampton this morning and got there at 8.30, then we drove from there... And he dropped me back at the station on the way home. Still long enough. When I order the 6 fretless I'll let you know though I am however off to see Robbie & the land of RIM basses next Sunday for a few Marseer tweaks and to see some of his toys if you fancy a less intensive day out! Pics will have to wait until daylight... Can't get any decent ones under the poor lighting... Tomorrow. I promise! Quote
Oakbear Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 (edited) It's been daylight for a good couple of hours! A trip to Robbie sounds like it may be fun. I'll have to check and i'll pm when i know if that's cool... So how does it play?! Edited January 23, 2011 by Oakbear Quote
