Zarich19 Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Alright lads, I've been playing the bass about 18 months or so and starting to get the hang of it etc, but I'm also starting to notice a few flaws with the guitar I've been using. It's a fairly OLP not too dissimilar to this: http://www.modernguitars.com/musicgear/ele..._Fretboard.html What I've noticed with my guitar after playing some of my mates bass' is that mine has quite a wide neck towards the base, making some of the more fiddly maneuvers awkward, accidentally being bended, or simply un-doable. I can't remember the makes of theirs. Is their any well respected bass model with relatively narrow necks? I appreciate this is vague but any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. Quote
Ou7shined Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 (edited) Jazz basses immediately spring to mind of you are into a traditional bass sound (there are plenty Squiers knocking about). The Ibanez Sound Gear range (what I started out on) are great with very thin necks which are awesome to noodle on up the dusty end and give you a more modern sound. Zarich19 Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 Cheers mate, Ibanez SR300 looks right up my alley/price bracket. Quote
OutToPlayJazz Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Yes, if you want a plethora of active sound options, the SR300 is a great bass for very little money. Apart from that, the Squier Classic Vibe 60's Jazz comes highly recommended as well. Both great instruments for budget money. Quote
CraigPlaysBass Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 If you're interested, I have an Ibanex SRX08 Ltd edition for sale. Its 4 string, 2 humbuckers, 2 band active eq, 24 fret neck, 34 inch scale. All gold hardware and a great looking beastie . The neck is great for noodling about at the high end, as I am doing on it right now See my signature if you're interested Quote
Balcro Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Other brands/guitars that come to mind with jazz-like necks are The Farida SJB range - see dawsons.co.uk and the Cort GB 34/74/94 series. Good luck with the journey, Balcro. Quote
