ghigo85
A little video with one piece of my latest work http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbM2XSTX9KQ The video are some reharsal footages, the audio is from my new cd, I recorded with musicians from Ennio Morricone orchestra (Roma Sinfonietta). I composed and arranged all the pieces. Feedbacks are welcome!!! Edited May 18, 2010 by ghigo85
Stingray5
Very nicely done. Nice use of video too, though it would be nice to have seen the other player(s) involved too (if you have that footage).
RhysP
Questa è bella! That's a really lovely piece of music. Beautiful tone from your Stick too - what tuning are you using on it? (I wish I'd never sold my stick - biggest regret ever).
ghigo85
Thank you so much!!! Stingray5, thank you very much. Unfortunately I don't have footages from recording sessions RhysP, thank you! The tuning is standard for Stick, with medium gauge strings (Bass: C G D A E - High: F# B E A D). I don't use effects on Stick, just clean sound
nig
Interesting to see open handed technique, are you a lefty, as I play an sb 8 and like to open out as well, it seems most players play cross hands, I play right handed but am a left handed person, very nice piece too. cool. ghigo85
nig, thank you! About hands: no,actually I'm not left handed... Here I liked to put the first melody on the bass side... Keeping the ostinato with the thirds and the melody cross the bass and high parts of the Stick I wanted to give this character to this piece, usually I play with standard technique In the entire album I tried to experiment with some compositions technique (I have few counterpoint pieces in which the Stick plays two completely different melody on the two hands and is joined by doublebasses and violins), and with the ensemble (I used two violins and two doublebasses, three doublebasses and one violin, three violin and stick, the entire ensemble, and so on)... I tried to give particular flavours of classical contemporary music in a concerto with Stick, that is something completely new Edited May 18, 2010 by ghigo85
Golchen
Very nice, and I like the multi angles on the video as well. I like the look of your stick - what's it made from? Glad to see that I'm not the only stick player around here!
ghigo85
Golchen , thank you very much! This Stick is a 10 string stick with PASV4 made with Bamboo (Dark).
Dood
I love the Chapman Stick and that tone is beautiful! Especially those deep notes! Clean and resonant. The piece is sweet and hypnotic Guido!
