iconic
I thought I have a go at Micro Kid L42, needs drop D....never done this tuning before. My Korg GA -30 tuner which can take sound or by direct input seems to struggle with drop D open string note? It seems to only like E or Low B and shoots past D to low B or back up to E when trying to twiddle my tuning peg. So I thought....what If I tune using using the 12th fret harmonic to D and, that it seems to like, no problem any ideas why this should be? many thanks Edited May 19, 2010 by iconic
Ou7shined
I don't know this tuner off hand but maybe you have just discovered it's limitations regarding the lower frequencies. Obviously a harmonic note is a high frequency and your tuner has no problems with them. Drop D is a real easy tuning to do on the fly anyway just pluck your open D string then your E then bring your E in to tune - you could do all this on the corresponding 5th or 7th fret harmonics too depending on ambient room noise.
