Clarky Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 At least it doubles up as a cheese grater or vegetable mandolin Quote
Clarky Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 I would love to casually mention to someone playing that monstrosity, I think your tuning is a little out ... and retire swiftly out of arm's reach Quote
Stylon Pilson Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 From what I've heard, these absurd "Tennessee" brand basses are fundamentally unplayable. S.P. Quote
MB1 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 MB1. Good for clearing snow with? The descriptions the only skinny thing about it! ...Wouldnt let that guy clean my windscreen!.. Quote
Guest MoJo Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Intonation is going to be all over the place.....would be a laugh to pull it out at a rehearsal though Quote

Check out the bridge! I wonder what it intonates like? Quote
JMT3781 Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 i really dont think much thought went into the pickups either Quote
ahpook Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010
Just "daft" really
plus the one unless you're into 'look at how many strings i've got' Quote
lemmywinks Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 To be fair you could tune so that you could play an entire gig one handed, leaving the other hand free for Saxon style air pointing. Also i thought Tennessee basses were usually a couple of hundred dollars? This is over $3000! Quote
Clarky Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 With a few cross weaves it could also double up as a tennis racket. Maybe its the multi-functionality that justifies the eminently reasoble 3000 bucks? Quote
arsenic Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Shame it's not fretless - at least you could use it as an ironing board....... Look at the neck on that thing, you would need to either be the Sugar Puffs Honey Monster to get your hands round that. Quote
BottomEndian Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010
From what I've heard, these absurd "Tennessee" brand basses are fundamentally unplayable.
Indeed. I'm no expert, but two truss rods just doesn't seem like enough for a "neck" that wide. ("Neck" just doesn't seem the right word... "shelf", maybe?) It'd surely get warp-tastic. You'd also have to say bye-bye to your shoulder. And the floor, after the headstock dived into it when you took your left hand off the neck. Sorry... shelf.
what tuning would that even be!??
Whatever the hell you want. You still couldn't play it. Seriously, though, it seems to be strung up in groups of a single gauge. The bottom three or four strings look about the same gauge, and the same with the top three. It wouldn't surprise me if it's strung up chromatically or something. Quote
jezzaboy Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010
I would love to casually mention to someone playing that monstrosity, I think your tuning is a little out ... and retire swiftly out of arm's reach
You wouldn`t need to worry about being out of arm`s reach Clarky. Anyone who played it for 10 mins would be so knackered just having the thing slung over their shoulder that they wouldn`t have the energy to lift an arm to thump you! That has to be the most bizzare guitar I have seen. You would need a mortgage to buy a set of strings. Jez Quote

This is over $3000!
Tropicalmoonmusic seem to be trying it on a bit. They've got a 10-string Stick "clone" on there which I have thought about buying - their previous auctions for them have finished up at $150-$200, they're asking something like $1500 BIN now. No spare cash ATM so won't put in a best offer of $100. Quote
