P-T-P
How about the Epiphone Allen Woody Rumblekat? I used to back a Sheryl Crow tribute and bought one of these for when Shezza took the bass reins 'cause it looked the part (Crow uses a Guild M85). It was actually a really lovely bass that I totally wish I still had. Light as a feather, great tone and easy playing plus it looks fantastic. tauzero
If you have a particularly small wife (both the ones I've had so far have been 4' 11.5" tall) then you might want to check this Warwick out. I've got one myself, in fact...
markytbass
My wife (who's about 5feet tall) has an Ibanez EDB550. The body is smaller than most and the neck is nice and slim. She had always struggled with most designes of bass due to either the body being too large or the neck too fat. It's best to take her to try some out I think that is the only way you will know your getting the right bass.
Tait
ibanez wouold be my choice, the soundgear is an excellent sounding bass with a very slim neck and a very light body.
Stag
My missus quite liked the Fender Musicmaster I picked up a while back, if you can get one of them on the cheap...
OldGit
Well IMHO there's not much that sexier than a small woman playing a full sized bass A page of pictures of Suzy Quattro playing big basses and "girls" guitars like Daisey Rock just seem a little patronising ... what do you women who play "girls" basses say? gypsymoth
the ultimate girly bass is the hofner beatle - or a cheaper knock off. light weight, shorter scale, and if she's in a certain age bracket she may even enjoy the association. Stag
Maybe one of these? 10% shorter than a P-bass, apparently.... A friend of mine has a few full sized basses but chooses to use a Samick Corsair MCR1 small bass for gigs. I tried it and the ikkle Jim Deacon and it's Ok but any kind of enthusiastic playing on the E string sounds a bit cr@p...
The Burpster
Just found out yesterday that Vintage make a 7/8ths size bass as well which is not expensive and is a pretty good instrument.... It is in the latest JHS news letter promo thingy that came with G&B mag.

Linus27
Just want to give an update on this. I bought from GreeneKing one of his Bass Collection basses and all I can say is WOW. A superb bass, in mint condition with incredible sound and beautifully set up. Thanks you GreeneKing . More importantly, my wife adores the bass and keeps picking it up to practice and play. She is pretty shy and would not play infront of me but she picked it up the other day in front of me and started to tinker on it. So her confidence level has increased which is a very good thing. She is also saying that she can do things on it that she was struggling to do on my Fender's like using her little finger to reach frets. Plus she is beginning to rememeber where notes are. Most of all though, she is enjoying learning and playing so a happy ending in the end.
