Born 2B Mild
A real gem. I was only a newbie bass player when I first saw this bass in Peggy's hands. I was also in to amateur photography and so I've a fair few photos that I took and developed of this bass in use at Fairport gigs in 74 & 75. He was sporting a deerstalker hat, bushy black beard and passively smoking Swarb's non-stop ciggies.

Born 2B Mild
The same bass 36 years a go. I know there's more of my photo's that I took somewhere in the attic, but this'll have to do for now. Reading University Student Union November 1974 (exact date is listed in the excellent "No More Sad Refrains - The Life and Times of Sandy Denny" by Clinton Heylin - which I don't have)

Born 2B Mild
The auction ended, with the winning bidder paying £7,000. I wonder if it was a Basschat member?
Sibob
Massively overpriced for a refin and extra pickup! If you're coming at it from a collectors point of view that is, if you're coming at it from a 'good bass' point of view.....then £7000....really??? lol If you're coming at it from a Dave Pegg fan.....then clearly your a nuttery fan haha! lemmywinks
I dunno, it is a piece of bass history for some people (me included). The records it's played on and the Leo Fender signature give it a provenance very few basses have, not to mention 50 year old ones. I reckon the case on it's own could tell a few stories! It's unlikely that this bass will ever be cheaper than £7,000, numerous re-fins or not. The fact they were done whilst in the posession of Dave Pegg can't do it too much harm. Pretty good deal i think, wish i had the money!
