bigjohn
Hiya fellas, I was wondering if any of you own / have owned a T-Rex Squeezer? I'm thinking about getting one. I don't use any pedals or effects or anything at the moment. I've got a precision special (with the extra J pickup) and a solid state Ampeg combo (b3158). I'm looking to do two things - compress my sound a bit - I play in a 3 piece and sometimes I think my sound could do with being a bit more consistent. I also want to add some tube colouration. I'd like my Ampeg to sound a bit more SVT like. It's a good amp - but sometimes a little dry. I'm a bit concerned about this pedal being a bit hissy. I don't like hiss this man http://www.ev-b.com/compressors.html here hates them because of it. Anyone got any alternatives? All the best John
Silent Fly
I recommend you the EBS MultiComp. It also has the "TubeSim" function that adds some tube-like warmth if this is what you are looking for. bigjohn
Nice one, I saw that on his list - but wasn't sure it was a pedal.
cheddatom
DHA compressor? My favorite compressor for a very punchy sound, is the Ibanez CP5. Edited November 22, 2007 by cheddatom
bigjohn
I'm strangely attracted to the DHA, It looks like it's been put together in a potting shed and painted by someone who's peaking on LSD. Anyone got one? I'm finding it harder make my mind up than I usually do - most of the reviews I've read seem to make a point of making compressors' transparency sound like a good thing. cheddatom
I've got a Bob the Blender, which is just supposed to be a valve pre-amp with blender. It does a small bit of compression, and when you really drive it, it breaks up nicely. Not much of a compressor, obviously, but it's not supposed to be. I'm guessing the compressor would be just as impressive, but I can't really recommend it haven't not tried it.
