electrica contact cleaner

just wondering if i could use WD40 to spray and clean up the pots on my bass, theyre a bit scratchy and i dont have a can of electrical contact cleaner! and no chance of getting one in time for a gig tomorrow night!!

Only as a last resort. A tiny squirt might get you through your gig but that's not really it's intended use.

WD40 isn't ideal, you may find it will get very much worse shortly after making it better. Servisol is a solvent, WD40 is a solvent and an oil, which will do similar in the short term, but it is odd stuff.

cheers, ive done a search on here since posting this question and i guess WD40 is a bad idea! oh well, will try very hard to get some proper stuff tomorrow!!

As others have said WD40 isn't a good idea - it will ultimately leave deposits on your contacts and it will be a lot worse.
