Hipshot detuner stability

Hi there peoples,
I have a fairly recently purchased hipshot detuner for my E string, and although they're hella awesome, they seem rather inherantly unstable when in the off position - the little fine tuning screw just wobbles around with the slightest knock. With detuner 'on', the screw pushes against the thing and it's not going anywhere, but flick it back up and it's back to looseville. Naturally, this doesn't affect my E tuning, just when i drop to D, but if it takes so much effort to keep the D in tune, it almost begs the question what's the point :-) There is indeed a screw wrapped around the finetune screw, but maybe this isn't cutting it and it might be worth trying a more heavy duty one? Or does anyone have any solutions? Or am I just being a picky loser? :-)

I put extra washers on mine (in fact I used rubber washers) to take up the slack and it never goes out of tune ever.

I have d-tuners on four of my basses, but not had this issue. Would a bit of ptfe tape help?

You genius! I'll give this a crack sometime, looks like it'll sort me right out. I had an inkling that a nice tight screw would solve my problems (ooh err...) so i'll see what I can conjure up myself.

+1 for this mod, works like a charm!! Now i just need to make the washers gold to match my gold hipshot lol

Nice mod. "Threadlock" compound would also work a treat, as (IMO) the amount of adjustment required (when it's not adjusting itself) is quite small.
