obbm
but I find the plain white scratch plate on my Lakland Duck Dunn rather bland and uninspiring. It needs enhancing. With what should I replace it? Mirror? Black? Gold anodised? Help me out here.
d-basser
worn brassy gold like Stu Hamms in the vid thats on youtube
BigRedX
Personally I'd go for either black or how about chrome?
d-basser
second thoughts i aint sure gold would work because of the pickup surround, black or chrome as BigRed suggested may be the way. do a bit of photoshopping and have a poll.
Status
I saw a black bass with an amazing wood pickguard. I reckon a nice maple pickguard would look like the mutts nuts! Alternatively a nice white pearloid one would look good.
Buzz
+ 1 White pearloid. I don't think black would work, and chrome might be too shiney chromy, especially with the knobs. Edit: Status beat me on the White Pearloid. Edited May 16, 2007 by Buzz
guitarnbass
Looks good to me as it is, but white pearloid if you must..
birdy
I quite like it the way it is but would also consider an off white guard that a lot of CAR basses have, I think its technically called mint maybe? Its sorta white with a slight green tint, I am sure you have seen one and know what I mean!
elom
I don't know if such a thing exists but I think that a brushed steel plate would look fantastic on there
Spikyhedgehog
Black all the way. But I just love the black on red combination.
Owen
If you go with anodised, then Jeannie's do one in plastic over the gold stuff which would save you getting that fingernail on metal vibe that I hate with mine
setekh
+1 for chrome

R,5,R,5...
Tort? It does work well with some reds. Otherwise, a deep burgundy perhaps?
Mobius
+1 on the white pearloid. I think the white is a good colour but pearloid will make it look less plain.

lowhand_mike
think it looks the nuts as it is which is odd as not a massive fan of p-basses or wasn'tmaybe its the resemblance to a ray, but if you must change go pearl white or possibly gloss black. Anyway, that has a mint green guard I believe but I'm considering white pearloid or clear perspex on that.
