Pete Academy Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 I have a very simple bassline that I need to to email to someone. I have no method of recording it here at home. I've looked at an online music creating site but I can't understand how it works. Anyone help? Quote
OldGit Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 (edited) If you have PC running windows you have a sound recorder built in. start > programmes > accessories > entertainment > sound recorder. Plug your bass into the mic socket (need a converter to minijack) and play very, very quietly. Record it, save the file and send it to your friend. If you have a Mac I think it comes with Garage Band so no probs there. Why can't we have GarageBand for Windows??? Envy! Edited June 2, 2010 by OldGit Quote

I'll see if I can find a jack converter. Much appreciated. Quote
Pete Academy Posted June 2, 2010 Author Posted June 2, 2010 sh*t, my jack/mini-jack converter is in my gig bag, which isn't at home. Quote

cheddatom Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 can't you borrow something from work? If you have a mini jack plug you could always strip the wires and tape them onto the inside of your bass's jack (yeh, I have done it, it was a little noisy!!). Quote

Our hi-tech guy usually records anything I need. Edited June 2, 2010 by Pete Academy Quote
Pete Academy Posted June 2, 2010 Author Posted June 2, 2010 I've just recorded it on to my phone and emailed it to myself. The media player opens but the Wav file won't play. Quote

bassicinstinct Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 This should convert your .wav file into an .mp3. Free wav to mp3 convertor Used it ages ago and, if memory serves, it worked fine. Quote
cheddatom Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 That's weird. Does it play back on your phone? Has it recorded at 48Hz or something? Quote

Quick conversion to 44.1kHz seems to have sorted it. P. Quote
cheddatom Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 heh, he e-mailed it to me too but I have no speakers at work. I converted to WMA. Hopefully he's all sorted - Pete? Quote
Pete Academy Posted June 2, 2010 Author Posted June 2, 2010 Thanks to Bloodaxe and Cheddatom I am now sorted. Thanks folks! Ain't Basschat wonderful? Quote
cheddatom Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 It IS! I'm always getting help on here. Glad you're sorted Quote
