Clarky Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 After posing the question in Gear Porn, thought I'd start a poll because I have nothing better to do with my life (if Mrs Clarky reads that, I'm toast). Anyway my punky 70RI bass Sid now has two necks, one with a rosewood board the other all maple. I can't decide whether to stick with the new maple neck or to revert back to original rosewood. So simple question, which looks the best: [attachment=51266:clarky_basses_009.JPG][attachment=51267:clarky_basses_004.JPG] Quote
Musicman20 Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 I was going to say rosewood, but the colour of the bass and the pickups in this instance means the maple just tips it! Quote

Dave Vader Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Has to be maple, as it looks like one of the many 70s fenders that got away in maple, and thus makes me cry.... a bit, not a lot obviously, big bass players don't cry, and one of them definitely wasn't a '79 strat that I saved for for months until it was gone the day I had the money (only £250, it was the 80s).... MAPLE!!!!! Quote
OutToPlayJazz Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 I say keep it standard - The original rosewood neck looks best to me Quote
Clarky Posted June 2, 2010 Author Posted June 2, 2010 Glad to see there are no replies for Ritter so far. Here's their newest model: [attachment=51270:ugly_dog_pic.jpg] Quote
EssentialTension Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 (edited) Clarky, it's got to be rosewood ... and change the pickup cover to black as well ... and is that a Badass? PS I am saving up for your Mesa 12" but I'm not holding out much hope just at the moment. Edited June 2, 2010 by EssentialTension Quote
Golchen Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Hmmn, I thought I'd prefer maple, but on looking at the pix I have to go for the rosewood. Great looking bass either way! Quote
jezzaboy Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 It`s gotta be rosewood but what`s with the white pickup covers? Is this your Clash moment? Jez Quote

LawrenceH Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Maple all the way! Looks awesome with that colour scheme. Plus, although it's obviously the least important consideration, it sounds better. Quote
Clarky Posted June 2, 2010 Author Posted June 2, 2010 Hmmm, rosewood is starting to storm ahead. Watch the 'For sale: other items' forum soon! Quote

Marky L Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Sid = rosewood. End of!! You can then sell me the maple neck... seriously!! Quote
Cat Burrito Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Both look good but the Rosewood is better in my humble opinion Quote
