Annoying Twit Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Bill Nelson has released a "free" track (ebow guitar improvisation) in support of Mick. He asks people who download the track to make a donation, "however modest", to the appeal for Mick. TheGreek Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 I've only found this feed today though I was aware that Mick - real name Andonis Michaelides - had been diagnosed with cancer after reading something on the Wal website. It restores my faith in human nature when you see feeds like this. I had read that Mick had made somewhat of a recovery and was planning some gigs with the lead singer of Bauhaus. Anybody have an update on this? As a fellow Greek and my elder brother having recently been treated for Non Hodgkis Lymphoma and Leukaemia I feel compelled to help in some way. I, like many others, was inspired by Mick as a teenager and would happily donate my own vinyl copy of "Titles" to any fund that will find it's way to Mick and his family. If anybody wants to take up the challenge of putting together this fund please contact me. Quote

Clarky Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Jeez, terribly sad. A unique fretless bass voice. I will always remember him standing front stage playing Visions of China on the Tin Drum tour nearly 30 years ago. RIP. Quote
steve-soar Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 That is very sad, one of my favourite bassists. Quote
Matte_black Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Jesus. I really don't know what to write, I never met him but I'll miss him as an artist and, judging from the depth of the things he wrote in his book, a big person. Quote
warwickhunt Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Sad indeed, I'm sure condolences to his family will be offered by all! Quote
Bass Culture Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 RIP, Mick. A profound influence and one who sound-tracked a time when I was finding my own bass-playing voice. So sad. Quote
bassatnight Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 My complete hero, I am so upset. He was the reason I play bass; I was a massive Japan fan. So so Sad.... Quote
Stingray5 Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 A truly unique musician and artist. A very sad loss. Quote
Clarky Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Poor quality video but three great songs played (not live) on the Oxford Roadshow (remember that?) in 1981 Quote
grahamd Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Very sad news. A true original voice in music. Condolences to Micks family Quote

Etienne Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Just heard the news a short while ago... Currently listening to the Oil On Canvas live album and reminding myself what an amazing player he was- undoubtedly one of the coolest and most instantly-identifiable fretless players ever. RIP. Quote
Rayman Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Very very sad news indeed. Another great musician lost. Quote
