mr.sibs
This build was started in the summer, and will hopefully be ready around new year. Its being built for me by a friend to my design specs. Its a fretless violin bass with two schaller pick ups, it has been built with a wooden bar down the middle of the body, yes the body is hollow, and the builder put in the bar to add a bit more resonance than other violin basses, but hopefully it will still get the warmth im after. heres some pics... Im going to go fro a deep reddy nut brown varnish for the finish, and painting will be starting soon Edited March 2, 2008 by mr.sibs

neepheid
Something a little different for the build diaries forum, looking good so far!
paul, the
mmm, the most attractive build so far me thinks. Are you going to put the little tuners on like the original? That makes the whole look in my opinion. I couldn't work out what was wrong with the cheap modern versions and the. bam. it's the tuners. mr.sibs
yes its having original hofner tuners to match cheers for the positive comments
7string
Can't be too many fretless violin basses around. Looks very cool !!
mr.sibs
got a colour swatch too, didnt scan too nicely, but he is making me up a slightly less ready, but deeper version of the middle red that i think will be the final colour. thats a bit of the cream scratch plate in the corner
mr.sibs
some older pictures of the body from sept, you can see the resonance bar built in too avoid too much violin bass "non existent sustain"

It's looking very, very nice indeed! Being fretless, you won't have the intonation problems usually associated with these thing. That's a bonus! For once, I am quite envious! I love it! Keep the pics coming!
mr.sibs
thanks ebs, i got a chance to play it prior to spraying to make sure it felt okay and i was very impressed indeed, much nicer than the hofners that i had played prior to asking for it to be built, and the intonation seemed pretty good through the neck, i have to wait a couple of weeks for drying now though
EBS_freak
So when is the estimated time of arrival?
mr.sibs
i would say three weeks and it will be in my hands, these are just pictures from the guy who is building it, testing it out just teased me though tbh!
