Aerodyne Pickup problem - novice alert!

Hi there bass pros

I have recently acquired a gorgeous black Aerodyne Bass via the infamous eBay but I appear to have a problem. The bridge (jazz) pup is not playing ball at all - I get volume / tone responsive buzzing from the pup but no more than that. All the connections appear sound in the pot and so i fear the problem may reside elsewhere!?

Any tips on how to troubleshoot this, pitched at 'novice' level, please. Such a shame as it is a real beauty, but effectively just running on the split pup at present......

Many thanks

Paul

Could it be that the J pup's wiring is shorted out somewhere? Inspect the length of the wires and even the pup windings if that's possible. A pic of the innards might be helpful.
Worst case scenario is that the pup has died (not very likely but possible) and simply dropping in a replacement would fix it. Your blend pot could also be a suspect.

Blend pot?

Blimey, I thought it was just a tone control! Could this be a case of user error!?

I was expecting the jazz pup to be able to act on its own - ie nil vol on the P pup

Have I been very very dumb here?!?
