MiM Fender Jazz. Not stock though, a few years back I found some crappy 3rd party hardware, although it looks quite effective I think. I also slapped on some Seymour Duncan Basslines (I forget which model). Oh, and the pickguard was originally white.

My USA 62 Reissue Precision is my main squueze. I will never part company with it as it was a leaving gift to me from my last place of work. Apart from that it is a marvellous bass.

This 2012 Am. Std. Precision really has a great sound to it.

I love that. I used to really dislike the look of precision basses, but the more I see of peoples' here, the more I'm starting to want one.

I've already posted this in another thread, but this is well and truly 'My bass'. :) I've only ever purchased one other bass brand new until I bought this one. It was one of those ones that wasn't even in the forefront of my mind until I picked it up and played it (and enjoyed it immensely). I spent the extra money on the higher end Dingwall pickups and of course, getting a lovely pick guard for it. It plays amazingly well and sounds even better, I couldn't be happier.

This is my very modified Squier VM Jaguar. At some stage I'll upgrade the electrics to match the looks  Underneath all the pazzaz is a modest, starter bass but, stripped and veneered, it looks a million dollars and is great to play. Trimming the carbon fibre on the pickguard was challenging - thousands of tiny, highly conductive fibres just where the electrics are...

...one lives and learns

That is a magnificent piece of work! :hi:

Why thank you, kind sir (takes a long, low bow) :)

It is a bit of a favourite. The weird thing is that it took about 1/20th of the time of my Jack Bruce Fretless tribute (see elsewhere in Gear Porn & Build Diaries), but to my eyes, looks just as impressive. Much of it, however, is to do with the magnificent piece of veneer - which I have NEVER been able to find anything close since. I can't even find out what it is. This is its natural (varnished) colour so it is close to Amboyna - but Amboyna has a very distinctive smell which this one didn't.
If anyone out there knows what it is (or has something similar) pleeeease let me know :D

In the meantime, thanks again, Big Stu :)

Andy

Not Burr Walnut?
[/quote]

No - I've done a few veneer jobs in burr walnut but that is quite different. This one was described on fleabay as 'Exotic Hardwood veneer'. Hopefully not the last slice of the last tree of the last species!

And I thought I'd posted in here already...

This one.

Warmoth fretless Jazz neck, 1982 Ibanez Roadstar body, Bridge pup is a Seymour Duncan Ric replacement hacked down to fit, neck pup is out of an old Kay SG bass copy (bloody lovely sound since you ask) bridge was a cheapy ebay thing, and the pots are rescued from old projet basses.
Yes the refinish got interrupted 3 years ago and I never got round to finishing it, however, I quite like the not-quite-stripped look it has.
:)
