Plan B - "The Defamation Of Strickland Banks" - I've been enjoying this album recently, mainly from the bass perspective. It's really good t hear modern chart music with tasty bass guitar playing on.

Does anyone know who played bass on this record?

No idea, but one of the bands I'm in does 'She Said', cracking bass line.

I think he might play it. Apparently he played the guitars on his first album (much more rap than singing, I like it).

I was listening to this as well today, it's a quality album, I've never heard of the two bassists but the main one is Eric Appapoulay and Jodi Milliner on track two... Both are very groovy fellas. Eric is one of the producers on the record...

Ha, I got his first album and liked it, but totally didn't check up what he was up to afterward. Pretty much figured it would suck. This pretty much isn't what I expected.

It's very different. Apparently it's a concept album and he's written a screenplay to go with it. Someone's making the film but no idea when it will be out.

I don't think he plays much on the new record which is a bit disapointing although he already said the next record will be back to basics Plan B.

As far as I'm concerned he has never recorded a bad song!

I watched his set at radio one's big weekend, and the bass playing was really good! I think he was playing a five string warwick?

I just kind of wander about in a blues scale, sounds good enough for people not to notice.

Heard the Spotify advert for this particular album... went something along the lines of "Plan B - the gritty update to Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield". That alone made me want to hit my head against the wall. Not a great fan but agreed... some rather cool bass lines.

I don't understand why people don't like Plan B, it's different and actually musical unlike alot of other rappers, jodi is pretty sick:

My band supported Rox at the sugarmill but it was only Rox, backing singers and guitarist

It was the Producer, i seem to recall an article about the album in Sound On Sound.

My Missus is well into him and it's on my iTunes, so it crops up every now and then.

The annoying thing is, i quite like the Soul influence, then he starts doing Raps about 'GE'iN FACKT AP' and i have to skip the track.

I saw him in an interview stoned off of his face giving one word answers, just thought he was a dick, some of his basslines are cracking though.

Sorry to Lazarus this thread, but just discovered this album at the weekend and was really pleasantly surprised by its soulful contents and as the OP mentioned, the absolutely awesome basslines driving just about every track on the album. I'm gonna have to spend some time working out some of the lines
