CJBASS
I have just started a new band with more of a funk orientation so i'm in need of a bass more suiting to the new band. As i'm a poor student etc i need to get rid of most of my gear to fund this so i'm looking at selling three of my basses. First off is a a 1979 Ibanez musician fretless 4 string REMOVED Had a few interested in this bass but i've decided i'm going to keep it, at least until after christmas when things start selling again. Still for sale: The second bass i'm selling is a Dean Edge Q4(4 string). I have been using this bass for the last three years and it has served me well handling a good range of styles and sounds however im after something with ash and maple so this has to go. specs are as follow: # Quilt Maple Top # Basswood Body # Grover Tuners # Black Hardware # EMG-HZ Pickups w/ Pre-amp # Bolt-on Maple & Walnut Neck # Rosewood Fingerboard # Dot Inlays # 24 Frets The bass is transparent blue which looks green in some light. It has the most playable neck i've tried out of quite a few more expensive basses and has a comfortable body with good upper fret access. The only bad point of this bass is a dent about 1.5cm in size on the bottom of the bass (not visable from front or back) where my strap broke and the bass landed on the corner of my amp. Apart from the dent the bass is in good nick has no other issues. I would be looking for about £350 for this although i'm open to offers. PRICE CHANGE- WOULD ACCEPT 300 OR THERE ABOUTS The last bass is a Wasburn xb100 4 string in natural gloss finish. specs: # Mahogany Body # Maple Neck # Rosewood fretboard # Diecast tuners # WB100 pickups This is a good bass which would be ideal for someone new to bass or a defret job or a backup bass. The bass sounds nice and resonant with a good P growl. The neck is somewhere between a P and J shape and plays nice. NEW PRICE 100 QUID. I've just got back from having surgery on my shoulder so have a lot of uni/work to sort out so i will get pics up asap. cheers cam Edited December 3, 2007 by CJBASS
CJBASS
Right i've finally managed to get some photo's of the basses. They're not great but its raining where I am so I cant take any outside with decent light. Also does anyone know anything about the Musician bass? as i've never seen another one like this before, I've only seen versions with t wo pickups and darker wood facing. Any info would be great as i'm trying to find out how much its worth. If anyone wants more detailed pictures just PM me thats no problem. Would also be open to trades on 4 string's with a little money either way. Try me.. cam
Bassassin
Hi Cam - the Ibby's an MC800NT, here's a pic in the 1979 catalogue, it shows the dark stained version - yours is the natural finish: http://www.ibanez.ru/info/catalog/1979/11.jpg As far as value's concerned, with these things it's what someone will pay, and what you're asking doesn't seem unreasonable for UK market/Ebay prices for a Musician. Yours is an unusual model (from the catalogue archives, it looks like '79 was the only year this model was available) and I've not seen a Musician series bass in a natural finish before. Yours has been defretted & no longer has its original pup & trc, which might make a difference to a collector. Jon.
Machines
I had an MC900 which I bought for £250, then swapped with a collector for my Stingray. That puts that one being worth about £600 (to him).
CJBASS
Cheers Bassassin and Machines, I had seen a couple like the catalogue ones but just not in this finish. In regards to price I guess it is just down to whatever someone is willing to pay. Its a shame in a way that its not totally original but that was out of my control. I'm guessing that it sounds better with the bart pickup than the stock one and the bass has a nice fretless sound so i'm not too bothered. cam
vmaxblues
Hi Cam I am an Ibanez collector, and have had loads of them, and a few Musicians, this is the cut down version, not the full blown musician, also the stock pickups on this era of Ibbys are awesome and very powerful, so the addition of a non stock pick up devalues it for me, but others might not worry. A full blown Musician bass these days goes for around £350, this model would be circa £250, and for me the non stock electronics and non factory defret would put it around the £200 mark. Having said all that, these basses are superbly well made and to buy an equivalent new bass would cost an arm and a leg IMHO
CJBASS
BUMP I've decided not to sell the ibby now as i've started playing it agian and decided its too good a bass to sell at the price it would sell at just now. Still for sale is the dean and washburn fretted 4 strings. Good basses for the money and ive lowered the prices as I've spotted another bass on here which I need to raise money for fairly soonish. cam
