I'm on the look out for a really long strap to use with my Epiphone EB-3.

I have a Brooklyn Gear padded strap which is a bit like a comfort strap. Its 55" from strap button hole to strap button hole but I used it on Saturday at its longest and it made Mark King's bass look like Hooky's by comparison.

I'm looking for something that will go between 60"-70" long and still be as comfortable as my current one as the EB-3 is a beast

55" would appear to be extra long :)

Levys do 65-inch versions of their straps. I've been trying to get a suede one but can't find it in this country. Their Canadian website will only ship to the US -- so I'm planning on having one sent to a relative there.

Otherwise, I had a long strap custom made by Eyeland in Washington State. They'll ship here but they're expensive.

Good luck.

Cheers

I checked those sites. very nice but yes, very expensive.

I've just found this site

although the different models sound very Scotttish, they're based in Surrey so I;m going to check them out.

If you like your Brooklyn strap you can always buy a cheap black nylon one and replace one of the two parts on your Brooklyn. I did this to my Comfort strap which I was very happy with but I didn't like the way the foamy part sat on my shoulder.
I cut one of the nylon parts, the one that stays on your right when you have the bass strapped, kept the end that attachs to the bass and sewed it back to the new cheap strap. This way it sits better and you can extend it as much as you like.
Cheap Strap + Shop to sew it= £8 ...Cheaper than buying a new long, good comfortable strap.

:) Hope this helps and it's not too confusing.

Aye... the "Rannoch Strap" sounds like something from Ann Summers... :)

He'll make whatever it is that you want.[/quote]

They do look nice and compared to what I've been looking for are great value but are a bit jazzy for me - I may see if he can do me something more 'normal'

Just let him know what you want, he'll do as 'normal' as you like, put in straplock holes and any other detail you want
