JMT3781
one more Shuker in the South Walsall/North birmingham area. Sounds nice mate, hope the wait isn´t too long, did he give you an ETA?
wotnwhy
Nothing at all? I though Jon usually got in touch when the neck was being carved so the customer could come down and check it's how they want it? Have you tried getting in touch from your end? Muzz
This is one of the reasons I'm looking at Warmoth for my custom build - life's too short...
eude
No news whatsoever, not a sausage!
That's a shame dude, Jon's communication can be pretty pants. Try dropping him another email, however, if he doesn't get back to you by the following day, I'd just give him a ring... Eude
Musicman20
Im sure itll be great once its finished. I think despite the recession, bass builders are still busy! Ive been waiting since October for Ernie Ball Musicman orders, but I dont mind as it gave me time to save for some of them.
Simon.
It's a pain that this is taking so long for you to get finished giblett. I'm looking forward to seeing some signs of progress soon, as I'm seriously contemplating ordering a similar P/J style bass from Jon as well. Good luck! Have you been on contact about it? Jon can be a bit crappy on email, but if you can get him on the phone it's always good. Cheers, Eude
lobematt
I'm in the market for some sort of custom and would love to buy from a UK builder and Shuker's poor communication has completely put me off using them. I think if your gonna put a lot of money into a bass the least the builder can do is reply to your emails!

lobematt
I doubt very much he's working solidly 24 hours a day and it only takes a minute to email a customer.
Ross
As much as I'd love a Shuker I know the waiting times are insane. I'd have to buy a used one if I went down that path.

Also, for those who don't spend a lot of time in front of a computer, it can take a lot longer than "a minute" to reply to an email. A phone call is generally much quicker and easier to respond to. Muzz
I said it nine months ago and I'll say it again ( ) - this is why I couldn't stand a custom build...I'm too old...
eude
Almost a year and a half to build a bolt-on P Bass?! I think it might be time to have a serious word mate...
Noisyjon
Not good news here is it and I feel for you G FWIW I will never go down the custom build route ever again and sad stories like this keep reinforcing that decision. I hope you get some kind of satisfactory outcome soon. All the best, Jon
Twigman
Man!!! and I thought my expected 4-6 week wait which seems to have turned into 3 weeks 2 days for my Warmoth bits was hard to handle.
erisu
I'm waiting for my Shuker custom build as well. Paid a deposit of £530 so far last year September and haven't heard or seen anything yet. I asked specifically if he can send me pictures of the build process and he agreed but still not one picture so far. Not even sure if he's started building yet either so no idea where I am in the queue unfortunately. But I agree, he's pretty bad at communicating via email but I guess email is not for everyone. Luckily my band is sort of on a break at the moment so I don't need the bass that much... yet!
Musicman20
That's far too long. I would expect pictures, updates, and a friendly chat once a month if I ordered a custom. Good luck with getting em
johnbiffa
But they are worth the wait, trust me ! Jon built me a 51 reissue P Bass last year and yes it did take a long time but he always replied to my emails and telephone calls.......we are assuming he has received them. erisu
I get a reply to prob 1 in 6, every 2 months or so? I wouldn't so much if I had the odd piccie so I know somethings happening, its kind of a nerd thing I have, to see the build process etc, otherwise I'd probably have bombed down to bass direct and bought something v nice "off the peg".
Totally agree with the nerd thing here Jon replied to every single one of my emails earlier this year with me chasing him. It was agreed he would have the bass completed by the start of the year... but then it got pushed back to March... then July/August... around that time things with my band died down so I didn't chase Jon as much but still sent him a email or two in a space of 2 weeks apart but I haven't received a reply since then. A phone call to him will be my next plan of action in January perhaps.
Musicman20
In this climate I tend to worry if I don't get responses. Surely if its gone past a certain time you can have your deposit back?
