I'm on about 25 basses and next year I am going to rationalise the collection down to
about a dozen or so and also a couple of guitars.

Even with that thought seriously in mind, I could never turn up my nose at the chance
of one of these:

I've got 8 so far. There's a marine coloured Overwater Jazz that's been on ebay (may still be there) which I'd love, or something like a 5 string Warwick Corvette or Thumb. Fretless or Fretted.

Oh and another Wal too.

A Warwick Corvette. Always wanted one, but never had the money. I'd probably get a Fender just to say I'd owned one. A Gibson EB-3. Another Ibanez SR. A Stingray.

I neither need nor can afford this (its a cool £3.5k at The American Guitar Centre in Kent). But I can't help going back and gazing lovingly at this custom Alembic Orion 5'er

Oh, and this Custom Shop Fender 55 Precision is my other unaffordable ($3.5k) bit of web porn I frequently stare at:

I now have a 5 bass limit. I rarely get to play 5 so any more is just a waste (until Im earning more).

But, I definitely want a Custom Shop Fender in my life, more than a true vintage.

Ill see what the next year brings.

Off the top of my head...

Pretty much any Atlansia 5-string
Andreas Bull Shark or Basking Shark 5-string (or even both)
Marleaux-Pagelli 5-string
Spalt Hybrid 5-sting
Ritter Raptor 5-string

If money was no object I'd also have some of my favourite 4-string only basses such as the Ovation Magnum 1, Rickenbacker 4003 and Gibson EB3 custom built in 5-string versions.

From recent threads im sure you have read im a huge Jaguar fan and now a massive aerodyne fan (again,,,thanks Steve :) )

im gas free although im due to recieve a jack casady sig bass in the next few days..

my main bass I need is the Gretsch white falcon..............class, elegance and rock n roll.

Not a bass, but I would love to get another Chapman Stick to replace the one I foolishly sold a few years ago.

(And if we're talking money no object I'd have a 5 string, a 6 string & an 8 string Zon Legacy to go with my two 4 strings).

Answer to the question has to be , a Kubicki ex factor,a headless zon, steinberger trans trem..
better stop now :)
Although a Fender Precision Man, due to my Jam/Bruce Foxton worship I`d have to add a Ricky to the collection if money were no object.

+1 on this, I'd love a CS Fender. It'd be a jazz, but that's as far as I've got with deciding on spec.

Although I'm up to 10 or so basses now I know that there's always room for more!

On the list of things I'd like to own but are up in the very high price bracket would be a Fodera Victor Wooten:

And an Alembic MK Signature

I'd go for another CS or vintage BC Rich Eagle or Mock - I've got my pink Japanese and Custom American ones, but something like the below would have me spending again:

There's a schism for me here between working basses and nice-to-have/project basses (NTH/PB).

As a regular player in a band I'm happy with my Westone Superheadless (apart from the noisy pickups - see http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=91295 if you haven't already read it).

However, I'd love a Stingray as a working bass (NTH), but then why not get an OLP and hot-rod the electronics (PB)?

I'd also like an Ibanez ATK (NTH), but it would have to be black with a maple fretboard. These come with a white scratchplate but when I said black I mean black so the SC would have to be changed to black which moves it into PB territory...

After seeing Darren from the Pirate Twins playing a Status Series II with Thomas Dolby earlier in the year I'd definately love one of them as a working bass (check out Darren's Status collection at the bottom of this page - http://www.the-pirate-twins.co.uk/blog_archive1.html). But then he's got some Kingbasses too - definately NTH (though mine would have to be the graphite-faced one...dream on JimD...).

Then there's the short-scale Gibson SG-style basses, but that's because of Mike Watt (http://hootpage.com/hoot_gallery-thudstaffs.html) so they'd have to be tweaked and therefore become project basses. Because they're projects it would seem wrong to carve up a Gibbo so an Epiphone would do...

The daft thing about all of this is that I have a project ready and waiting (bought a Kent Armstrong bassbucker for £8 a few years back, then got a Hohner Arbor "Precision" to put it in, but, typically I want a black scratchplate and a "Jazz" neck for it) and as you can see from here http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=91295 I need to sort out my main bass as a priority!

But does that stop me dreaming up new projects or thinking about finding the cash for NTH basses...does it funk... :) (goes off to start new Basschat thread called "Do you lack focus and drive?")
