Hi all,

I've recently bought an old jazz US bass it's lovely but quite heavy on a long gig.. all my old basses were quite light so I could use my dad's lovely old vintage strap was fine.. however, I think his strap won't help my back.. Function on sat.. any recommendations?

I live in London

These work for me, try a search - there a couple of threads on here with far more info...

I am a fan of Comfort straps myself but the wider issue here with basses and lifting heavier stuff is that we need to make sure we give our posture a decent break.

People should not neglect their core as heavy basses and standing up on gigs for a duration are trouble in waiting. Seriously.

Sorry for the tangent...

I have one of these which I don't use:

It's not new and it does have 1 or 2 marks on it, but you're welcome to have it for the cost of postage. PM me if you're interested.

Just tried making a "ghetto" version of this using a spare nylon strap in addition to the thick padded leather one I use normally- seems to be surprisingly effective, and my bass is a serious boat anchor. Thanks for the inspiration.

I went to the bass gallery and picked up a mono strap

I would have bought the comfort straps but I heard about one that broke.. I guess like the old saying ' they don't make them like they used to'. Stitching is stronger than plastic

Hi Steve,
If no one else wants it, I would certainly appreciate it.
I currently use 2 straps to get a similar result.
Cheers,
Steve.

This one: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DM1Blk/ Wide, heavy leather, won't slip around on you (backside is raw leather), won't come off strap buttons, not expensive.
