JMT3781 Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Ive been booked to dep a show next week for a Mate, an amateur production of a broadway show. I was booked about 4 months ago, and promised the part about 2 months ago. I finally got the part yesterday, for a tuesday dress rehearsal. Turns out the "part" is just the piano book, where the left hand is half bass clef and half treble clef, and switches between the two seemingly at its own leisure.. Gonna be a toughie i think lol, especially since the left hand is mainly playing chords lol Quote
Gareth Hughes Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Are there chord marking above the score? I've been there before too - makes for a bugger with repeated sections. If there's chords, it's a busk with an eye out for any noticeable rhythm markings. Quote
JMT3781 Posted June 27, 2010 Author Posted June 27, 2010 Nah no chord symbols, just the dots in the left hand... Time to get the pencil out lol Quote
hubrad Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 How about huunting round for a PVG or Real Book format of the same show? Quote
JMT3781 Posted June 27, 2010 Author Posted June 27, 2010 Maybe.. Im just getting stuck in.. ive just finished transcribing act 1 into a readable format... for me at least Quote
Tech Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 good luck mate! don't forget to keep an eye on the piano player, has saved me from a few sketchy codas in the past! Quote
JTUK Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Sounds like you'll be making a lot of notes then...:lol; but look on the bright side...this sounds like a less formal or pressured gig if they can't or don't have their own bass pad. You have a degree of license, it seems. Quote
