Hofner Club bass used by Jack Jones' bassit @ Glasto

I've been looking at the basses used @ Glasto. So far, apart from the modified Lakland Bob Glaub as per another thread, the choice seems rather conservative. Mostly Fenders, both PB and JB. A Musicman I presume in the Slash bit. Oh, just as I writ this Toots and the Maytals have something different. Warwick 6 string?

Anyhow, I digress. I was surprised to see Jack Jones' bassist using what I think to be a Hofner Club. As they go for £450 or so on t'internet, it's a mid-priced bass, being used at a major concert. Should I be surprised? Is it a bass that punches above its weight?

Edit: Ooops! Higher price bracket models exist: http://www.imuso.co.uk/Bass-Guitars/7883-/...e=googleproduct

(I was hoping to delete the post, but no delete button).

The Chinese built Hofners are great, but it may have been a proper one:

BTW: Is that six string Warwick being used by Toots and the Maytals a part fretless bass solely due to wear?
Part fretless?

I loved his economy of effort. Just stroking the notes out of it, hardly moving his left hand at all...

I thought some of the frets were worn away. But some later views showed that the frets were there, just with a similar discolouration as the fretboard. I also noticed the economy of effort in the left hand, and wondered if his choice of a six string was to get access to a greater range of notes without fretting a string!

I think some Warwicks come with brass alloy frets - don't quote me on that but I used to have a corvette with darker coloured frets.

I love toots; gutted I missed the set!
