Musicman20 Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 I think it's pretty good, but I've not seen much of him before. Quote
OldGit Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 The bit at the start with the walk about keyboard was. Needs to do a bit more gym work if he's going to struggle to get up off the floor in front of millions of people .... Musically OK though ... Quote
Sibob Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 It's bloody awesome, classic songs played by a genius who hasn't aged at all really.....except his walking around?!?!...if thats what floats your boat! lol And what I love is that musically it isn't perfect, there's the odd timing issue, the odd little missed note etc....that gives it life for me!. Pete Academy Posted June 27, 2010 Author Posted June 27, 2010 Sorry folks, he's brought it back with the old stuff! Forgive me!!! Quote
Mr Fudge Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 I know he is a genius etc... but it leaves me cold, a bit like ELO or The Eagles. Great for 5 minutes and then the realisation that it's total sh1t. Can I refer everyone to Neil Young last year to show everyone how it should be done .... with passion, brilliance, dignity and without compromise. What makes all this even harder to stomach is that Richard Thompson is headlining a smaller stage right now and there is nothing! Your BBC ... my arse! Quote
jmesa Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 I'm not a Stevie fan, but there is no way this is "total sh1t" ! Quote
Pete Academy Posted June 27, 2010 Author Posted June 27, 2010 It's great but the mix is terrible. No bass whatsoever. Quote
Musicman20 Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 He's a big chap but sooo many good songs!!! Quote

I've just been enjoying the bass playing and could hear it perfectly. Maybe more of a reproduction problem than a mix problem? I'm not a Stevie Wonder fan but I thought it was good stuff. Quote
Mr Fudge Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Why oh why oh why oh why oh why aren't Rush headlining? Quote
Musicman20 Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 What rig is Nate using? GW in the other thread said the bass is a Sadowsky. Quote
Sibob Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 I hardly see how Stevie is 'compromising' in any way!?. He's been doing his thing, his way for years and years and years....whats wrong with upping the show!? I could hear the bass perfectly fine, but there was a definite drop in the volume of his synth! It looks like he was playing a 4x10 Hartke cab (couldn't see the head, probably Hartke), and his bass is a Bossa Si Quote

Doddy Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 I enjoyed it. The sound wasn't particularly good though. Quote
Mrbigstuff Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 it was definately a tv thing. I saw it at hyde park, exact same set. Bass cut through like a dream and everything was perfect! Quote
Bilbo Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 I saw it and found it disappointing. I agree that the tv speaker thing didn't help and whoever mixed it for tv needs a talking to but I found the whole thing steeped in nostalgia and very little else. 6/10 Quote

Spoombung Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 It was a bit cheesy in bits, but entertaining. Not as bad as the irksome and pompous, Muse, IMO. Quote
