Yeah, they do a soft and hardcore aged type, the sandberg site has a bit more about it, mine is hardcore.
Blimey, that 'relic' is none too subtle ;-)

Have Sandberg been making basses long enough for one to actually get into this state naturally?

I bet someone here knows when they started out... I only became aware of them fairly recently.

They've been around for 21 years, so I guess a bass could get like the aged ones, but I doubt they even made this model back then! I'm not bothered either way, I just wanted a Sandberg again, and this came along.

I had to find this thread as I finally changed the strings to my usual 40's yesterday and couldn't remember how long I had the bass (and those strings sat on it)! It's still awesome, in fact, with the new strings, I am preferring it over the Vigier at the moment.

Yeah, it is awesome, I had a Sandberg years ago, got it from German ebay and had never heard of them before, sold it as I was playing other instruments more and then when this came up, snapped it up very quickly.
I have my eye on something at the moment. If it falls through, I might be ordering one of these..
From the look of your honed working Fender collection , your bass history as posted , and your ruthless, if heart rending, weeding of anything that isn't a perfect fit - you don't strike me as someone who's likely to let the right deal fall through!

Look forward to seeing that one.

Why, thank you!

Unfortunately, I'm at the point financially where I have to buy what I need rather than want... hence waving godbye to stuff I'd rather keep forever. :)

Fender do a bass to the spec I need, but they're tricky to find. If the one I have my eye on doesn't come off, Sanderg'll do one that's similar. And sunburst. and Torty.
