L1zz1e Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Hi, I need to get this insured really and I was wondering if anyone knows how much these things are worth? I mean obviously to me its priceless! But in reality if someone robbed it, Id be gutted!! Here are a few pictures.. I think they mightve been taken before the decal on the headstock was added. franzbassist Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 I'd suggest you []email John direct and ask him how much it would cost to build a replacement. Quote
Marcus Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 About 3 years ago John was charging around £1250 for this type of instrument Hope this helps Quote
kevin_lindsay Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 The price now would be £1,499 for a bass like that from John Quote

Best, L1zz1e
No 1 to pursue a claim the insurer will expect a receipt for the purchase price Like you have been told contact the builder an get an estimate/quote of a like for like instrument and then insure against it. I would imagine its like around £1500 today Quote
EddieG Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Hmm, wonder how much mine would cost today then? The first fretless "Jaco" bass John ever built? :brow: Quote

Stacker Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Lizzie!! That's my old stacker!! Considering John's not doing an awful lot these days, I'd go £2.3K+. Remember to have it down as a 'specific item' on your home insurance, too, and make sure it's covered for gigs, though I doubt your home insurer would entertain that aspect. Hope you're still enjoying her. Donny Quote
