1976fenderhead
I have my fretless Warwick Corvette still with its original Warwick roundwound strings... I'd like to change to something sounding more vintage and double-bassey but not too dead either... should I go for half-rounds? Let me know what you suggest... dannybuoy
Yes, yes you should! Check out the Status Hotwire half rounds from here: http://www.status-graphite.com/status/frames/index_home.html They are the dog's danglies for fretless and only £16.99. They are way smoother than most other half-rounds, and feel just like flats but are a bit more flexible and lively with bags of 'mwah'. GHS Brite Flats are great half rounds also but hard to get hold of in this country (stringsdirect can get them on special order). Thomastik Infeld (TI) flats are another good choice. 1976fenderhead
I've tried TI flats on a different fretless before and I kind of felt they became too dead-sounding a bit too quickly, though that may have been because it was also an electro-acoustic bass... I think I'll give those Status a try, actually cheaper for me because I only need medium scale size... Thanks for the advice.
