Super_Mario_Bass Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 well, i have an this bass http://www.alrica.pt/loja/images/%5COLP%5CMM2.JPG as you can see it has those metal pots, and the 2 volumes have came very loose, i dont think they could be anymore loose,. Too much tryin to imitate a cello. anyway, how can i fix this? I've took it apart and had a root around but it seems a bit complex. any ideas? thanks Quote
Hamster Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 The knobs should be either a push fit on the pot shaft or held with a grub screw. Take the knobs off which should reveal the pots are secured to the control plate by some thin nuts. Tighten those nuts up and you should be good. Hamster Quote
Super_Mario_Bass Posted December 2, 2007 Author Posted December 2, 2007 How do i remove the knobs? they have no obvious hole for an allan key or anything, they just seem a bit stationery, but loose. Quote
Hamster Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 They should just pull off - unless for some bizarre reason they've been glued on. Hamster Quote
BOD2 Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 If there's definitle no screw holding them on then they could just be very tight. Protect the body with some thick card (maybe make a bit of card with a hole cut out and pout this over the pot). Then get two flat bladed screwdrivers and place them opposite each other under the knob. Now gently and evenly lever off the knob by twisting the screwdrivers, always making sure the body is protected by the card. Once the knobs are off you should see a nut the holds the pot against the body. Tighten this up to stop the pots from moving around then put the knobs back on. Quote
Super_Mario_Bass Posted December 3, 2007 Author Posted December 3, 2007 nice and snug now thanks Quote
Kiwi Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 when I read the title of this thread, I had visions of the Two Ronnies and their Fork Handles sketch... Quote
