thisnameistaken
My DB is set up at about that height, it will go lower without buzzing but I keep it higher so I can dig in more.

thisnameistaken
Are you getting that buzz everywhere? Seems a bit strange - usually if it's the curve of the fingerboard you'd expect it to be buzz-free in places. Are they especially flimsy-feeling strings? fonzoooroo
I've put 8mm G and 10mm E on mine (measured vertically, at the end of the 'board to the centre line of the string). There's a tiny buzz in 1st and 2nd position, but NO relief in the fingerboard. (String lies flat down the 'board if pushed down to touch at the bridge end and at the nut.) I'd usually have more relief in than that - a couple of mm at the middle of the vibrating length. I'm using 4/4 spirocores (steel core) on a 3/4 scale length. algmusic
when I get a new bass (esp 2nd hand), I usually get it setup by a shop bass shop, then after that I can tweek it myself as time goes on, as I find you change one thing, the other is not right.. If some sets it up you can work out what you want.. I think because, I just don't have the time.. Over time, you gain more experience then you learn how to do stuff by yourself.. velvetkevorkian
Not as easy to tweak a DB's string height on the fly...

velvetkevorkian
I will when I can afford it, since I tried to tweak mine on the fly and made a bit of a mess of it!
