I recently bought an SKB 2U Shallow rack case and it works perfectly for me. Need to check dimensions as they are more shallow than the Gator.

The SKB, I think is about 10" deep internally and fitted my Glockenklang pre (7" deep) with enough space to store a power cable.

Oh, and sits nicely on top of a Berg IP...

I bought the 4U version of this from Mark and it sits on the IP fantastically!

As to whether its the best I couldn't say but it does the job perfectly for me and has done a lot of gigs in the two years I have had it.

Another +1 for SKB... I found the Gator construction a bit flimsy in comparison. I hear that people like the Boschma cases too. I think wateroftyne was/is a user and may be able to offer a "from the horses mouth" review.

I have to admit it took me a while to warm to the looks. However for price and practicality they can't be beaten. The design means that you can put them down on any face while shifting them about with worrying about damaging handles or catches and they seem to absorb the knocks better than my Gator Shock Mount case ever did.

They look 'industrial'

What's uglier - a Boschma rack case or broken gear?
