I think they're pretty decent, although like all Arias made after MIJ production ceased, they don't fetch much - £70 is probably about right. Probably a good first bass for a guitarist!

Had one about 20 years ago, it sounded and played pretty well.... not brilliant but not bad either.

Mine was a blue 5 string and I got rid of it because the strings were too close together.

There's odd... Mine was a blue 5-string too, but I sold it because it couldn't cope with a high-C, the ergonomics were a bit lacking & I landed an RSB-Deluxe 5 which made it redundant.

The neck was nice - quite slim considering & the single coil p/ups had a good growl about them. My biggest gripe with it was that the body didn't have a round-over edge, & there was nowhere to anchor my thumb so was a bit uncomfortable on the right hand.

Very definitely post-Matsumoku, probably '90s Korean manufacture. Put it in a stand when not in use as the headstock is scarf-jointed to the neck around the third fret & they don't take kindly to being dropped. Good "beater" & well worth £70 IMO.

To resurect an old thread, mine is a blue 5 string and I've not quite just spent twice its market value on pups and a new bridge :P

I had a MAB-20/5 in the early nineties - wasn't great especially as I "upgraded" from a Matsumoku LEB heritage which was awesome.

The low B string was awful, no tone at all but nice slim neck and flash sparkly red finish - four strings I think were a lot nicer as were the higher range Magnas (MAB40 & 60s) anyway well worth 70 bucks!
