Double Bass tuition wanted

Hi, im desperate to learn double bass as i love the sound and idea of playing one. However, im yet to buy one as at the minute their too expensive and iv always been fearful of playing one for the first time in a shop.

Is there anyone on here near Guildford or central london that teaches begginner students?
