mep Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 (edited) 3 in total, and it took years before the first. First was a backing singer who was seeing the drummer. We were all expats and he had to go back to the UK after his contract expired, so we got it together for a while. When he came back she dumped him and we finished our fling. Second was on a rebound who I knew and used to come to the bar I played in. She was interested in my fingerwork! Third was how I met my wife. She was a friend of the singer's wife and friends. She had seen my picture in the local paper and came to a gig. Edit. Lasy night at a gig a father & son told me they came in because they heard my bass! Edited July 17, 2010 by mep Quote
rOB Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Last gigging band I was in we all got a bit of attention at one time or another. During the whole time the band was together, every member had serious partners of their own so nothing ever happened as far as I'm aware. I seem to mostly attract unattractive people from both genders.... humm.... Quote
thisnameistaken Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010
Brilliant. Many years ago, a mate and I managed to succeessfully get the same sod-off-and-leave-us-alone result by telling two annoying women that we were plumbers working on nuclear submarines, and proceeding to explain to them in great detail how toilets work underwater.
Oh that one sounds fun! Another time me and a friend from Belfast told two girls that we were the Finnish mens tennis doubles team. I don't think either of us even knew the rules of tennis at the time or what Finnish people sounded like. Fortunately neither did they. Quote
Sarah5string Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Nope... but then again you don't see a lot of brazen lesbians around these parts Quote
Commando Jack Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Never really pulled as such, but get the odd bit of attention now and again. I think though it's more about how you act on stage. Apparently I can look quite moody and stand offish at times. To be honest that's true, because when I've just finished playing for 2 hours I just feel the need to go home for a cup of tea (even on the nights where I've had a couple and get quite gregarious as a result). Even though I appreciate the ego boost of female attention, I just can't be bothered half the time! Quote

Spike Vincent Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Yes.Several times, although as I'm still with the last one 15 years later and she's in the room it might not be wise to go into detail. Quote
Oscar South Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Closest I think was a girl coming up and saying something along the lines of: "I really liked your playing, it looked like some kind of special guitar, what was it?" "Bass guitar" ... ".. Oh." Quote
velvetkevorkian Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I was "recruited" for a band formed by a girl I met briefly at uni. The band didn't last long (and wasn't great in any case) but we're still together three years later Quote

Ray Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I was noticed at a gig by a girl and as I came off stage after the show I walked past her and she said hello and how great the show was. I didn't hear or even notice her and completely ignored her! Oops. We met again a few months later and have been together for nearly 10 years now. Quote

If I've worked all day and have a gig in the evening; you spend an hour setting up + helping everyone else, play for 2 hours, and then an hour packing down, my desire to stay and socialise is pretty non-existent. Where as shower – tea – bed is an appealing combo. Quote

urb Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I pulled at a party where my jazz funk band were playing - miraculously managing to chat up the girl while I was playing... no idea how I did it but I've not managed to repeat the trick since... Quote
